I had it running "ok" and then I tried to engage a higher level of Quartz graphics performance which my chip should have been able to support and crashed the whole d*mn thing again... after having done that 3 times before getting a working copy and two more times after that particular copy I decided it just wasn't worth it.
In the end, who cares?
