After blackra1n is installed, click on the blackra1n icon and install Cydia package.
Okay, do you've jailbroken you iPod/iPhone, now what? Tons of free apps and cool modifications galore! Search for Winterboard and themes, after you install Cydia, to change your theme, and modify the overall look and feel of your iPod/iPhone. This is probably the biggest reason to jailbreak your device.
For those looking to get some cracked apps...
In Cydia; Go to, Manage --> then Sources -->
Add cydia.iphonecake.com/ as a source then search appcake, download and install apps directly to your iPod Touch/iPhone
Or, if you want to, you can do it using iTunes and your computer...
Add this as a source cydia.hackulo.us/ and search for appsync (Note: Mipatch will not work with OS 3.0+) and install it.
Then go to http://appulo.us/appdb/ on your computer to download apps.
Add the apps you've downloaded from Appulo.us to iTunes (You can drag and drop *.ipa files to "Applications" section)
Then sync your iPod Touch/iPhone to iTunes to add the applications you've downloaded.
Easy-peasy!
Additional notes:
Back up your iPod/iPhone (especially your contact list) prior to jailbreaking it or you will regret it!
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Update to the OS 3.1.2 on your iPod/iPhone (unless it's "unlocked"), blackra1n does not unlock your iPhone for use with different carriers!
For iPod Touch, this is a "tethered" jailbreak, meaning that if you let your iPod Touch battery go dead, you must redo the jailbreak process.
Do not update your iPod/iPhone with the latest official Apple firmware until you're sure it's not going to ruin your jailbreak or a new jailbreak is released.
Minimum device hardware requirements: iPod Touch 2G, iPhone 3G.
Windows XP Sp2 or Mac OS X 10.5 Required to run blackra1n. OS must be native, not a VM!
