So, lookin for a laptop. Something exceedingly portable (small, light, and at the very least a decent battery life). Internet a must if it's gonna cost more than a hundred bucks, wireless would be nice.
All I'm gonna use it for is word processing and light internet (4k, e-mail, blogging, etc). No gaming, prolly not even any music listening.
NewEgg has some netbooks I'm eying. Problem is I'm not all that familiar with any of the brands, except HP (which I'd prefer to avoid). So, with an ideal budget of about 350, any tips? Anything cheaper I should look out for? I need a keyboard--don't need number pad or anything too fancy on the keyboard, just something I can type on. And a screen. Word processing. And some way to transfer word processing to real computer. That's the absolute bare minimum.
I won't be getting this til my PFD comes in, most likely, so there's about a month and a half for you to give me feedbacks (and I'm assuming my PFD is gonna be more than about 500 bucks here--should know that very soon, last rough estimate I heard was around $1200).
Thanks guys! :)
Someone tell me I'm being a worrywart, and explain to me how to revive a crashed netbook that can't boot from a CD? Also, I kinda want linux on this thing, can I do that sans CD? I've never installed linux (successfully) before, but I thought you had to do it from a disc...am I just dumb? :/

btw, it's a bit above my budget, but this is the one I'm currently leaning towards, if only for the amount of good feedback.added on 3:02am Aug 19 '09:
Oh, one other thing...the lack of CD drive makes me nervous. I know, it's bulky and I don't really need it...but I'm just thinking back to numerous computer crashes in which I had to boot from a CD to reinstall my OS. I know, I could get an external USB CD drive, but that's another expense...will I have to do that?Someone tell me I'm being a worrywart, and explain to me how to revive a crashed netbook that can't boot from a CD?
