The Church of Latter Day Saints is still relatively new as a religion. Of course some Christians will not acknowledge them as a "real" denomination and instead define them as a cult, but under the broad definition of "cult", which religions aren't one?
I imagine that this criticism from Christians is remarkably similar to how Jews felt about Christians 2,000 years ago. Perhaps some still do?
With due respect to those of differing opinions, I feel the attempt to ostracize Mormons from Christianity show poor taste and a rather repugnant lack of respect.
