you should do a comparison of what GOP senators were saying back then and what they're calling it now. i'd be very surprised if their views are still the same.

it advances my own partisan leanings, of course - bush's nominees were pretty crap (you'll notice that his SCOTUS nominees got through....the qualified ones, at least), whereas obama's are more to my liking.

given the parenthetical above, i'd suppose that "obstructionist" applies more to the GOP than the Dems. the GOP is full of people - senators included - who don't really give a shit about offering alternatives and just see themselves as only there to vote "no" on anything the other side proposes. and - especially in the house - that's what their constituents want.

but fuck me if a minority of voters get to just sit there and stop anything from being done.
