a certain portion of the population will not take the time to educate themselves and form informed opinions.

....and yet a good chunk of them vote anyway. "swayed by simple slogans" describes most of the people who disagree with me, a reasonable and considerate individual.


I actually respect anyone who says, "I'm not going to vote because I know that I'm not informed enough on this."

i don't, not really. that's like not having your project done by the due date because you didn't bother to do it. i did this myself at the last election (local election), and was disappointed in myself.


the excuse i *am* okay with is something along the lines of "this isn't my business." and by that i mean there have been local elections i haven't voted in before because, say, i'd only been living in town for a year and was planning on moving on again soon.
