Sex may just be one type of expression of love. Though 1 of 2 individuals, for example, doesn't have to be giving up anything. Both their greater desire may be the act of sex. Sacrificing of greater pleasure is just required sometimes for love. This suggests (even though I don't have a clear definition of lust but we'll just regard it as an act without love) that we cannot commit lust... because it's an act without love...
If I am right that God desires relationships with equal partners then I think that this is the answer to why He is so mysterious: He has devised a plan, in the only way He sees, that can enable us to become His equals. But He asks certain things of one for one to be able to receive the gift of equality (which I'm thinkin' is not more than He asks of Himself, which is to love everyone, including Him).
If you have no inkling whatsoever of God then fear Him and take the simple route to salvation that He has provided.
If you have an inkling, even slight, then do not fear Him and ask Him many questions, even "blasphemous" ones. Do we truly get upset with children who ask us insulting things...?
If you do not demand that one fulfill your every pleasure then you can expect that one not demand that you fulfill their every pleasure.
The plan, I think, is to give us choice. Existence as we know it is "designed" (not really designed because of free will but free will is like the design. How the universe works though would seem to be a design.) to, hopefully, enable us to understand how God's way is... the more pleasureable way... Ah!
Perhaps we are already gods, just by having free will and the innate ability to do as God does but not really realizing it, but things may be designed so that we only start to realize it the more we become like God in our ways...
God may be only as mysterious as necessary to not infringe upon our free will and to facillitate our desires.
Perhaps another reason why God is mysterious is so that we can discover Him...
We have the choice to enter into a relationship with God and to accept the responsibilities and rewards of such a relationship. If you do not choose to, God may be wounded but He will not strike you down, unless your chosen ways are untolerable.
Our existence gives us the opportunity to discover, understand, choose and work at mastering God's way.
Perhaps it's as simple as: "One cannot appreciate the warmth without the cold."
God's way is relative to Him. He has discovered His way throughout eaons and is ruled by pleasure just as we are. Though knowing all truths and being able to see all causes and effects, His way is much more... perfect (for a lack of a better word).
In your relationship with your partner if you wound them do you not ask for forgiveness and try to make amends?
I think you must really try to see things from this relationship angle. To see God as a partner and to see how you are treating Him, I think is to come to understand Him. I catch a glimpse of Him sometimes as a wounded... lover... pouting. lol. But His complaints are not from... irrationality. He sees clearly and knows when one is not acting according to The Way... Women, I think, generally, know this Way better. Think of a woman in a relationship with [someone] who has a legitimate (she in this case is correct) complaint with her partner as God with a complaint about you...
I recall vaguely a story in the bible where Jesus gets upset because one or some give into their desire for sleep instead of staying up as Jesus desires and Jesus reminds one or some that He does much for them...
I get excited when I envision a relationship with God. (Literally excited -_^... :D lol.)
(What I say does not come from a negative place.)
