I'm confused enough without convoluted software trying to force me to think within its confines. :P I'm just working with an open office spreadsheet, using several pages, so I can track overall money, savings, groceries, gas, fun, etc.
As for the tracking spending for a while thing...that's just not gonna show me anything, to be frank. I spend what I have, and I know that. Watching what happens to the 500 dollars a month I have more than I did a year ago doesn't help keep it in my pocket...I'm aware of where my money goes, but unable to restrain myself without figuring out some rules to apply to myself. I know I spend a lot more now on iTunes than I used to, and more on board games and art supplies and DVDs and such. I woulda been buying all that stuff a year ago if I'd had the cash. And I'll be buying more a year from now if I have the cash to do it, unless I do something to stop myself from spending so excessively.
