To them, it's all about making the most money. I don't think they care much about what's socially responsible.

You can call them and ask them to cap your credit limit at a certain, lower amount and to stop increasing it. But as long as your credit is favorable they will keep raising it unless you tell them not to do so. If your credit goes down, they can stop giving you increases, and eventually even lower your credit limit (also without notifying you beforehand).
