I loved it. I'd give it *** out of 4 (maybe ***1/2 - it's stuck with me, which is a good thing, but I'd like to see it again at some point). It's definitely worth watching if you like slow burn horror (i.e. it's not gory or action packed, but it can be intense at moments). It moves a little slowly and I know some people don't like the main characters and how they act during the day, but the nighttime scenes are definitely worth it.
I think there are a few things that really bother people about it though. One, it was hyped to high heaven (if you can avoid hype, that's a good thing). And two, it had a really limited release at first, so a lot of people went faaar out of their way to see it. A couple of people walking out of the theater when I saw it a few weeks ago (when it was in limited release) were saying stuff like "I can't believe I drove 2 hours to see this - totally not worth it!"
So I think as long as you don't buy into the hype and walk into the theater with your arms crossed and a "Scariest ever? Then prove it!" attitude, and if you like scary movies, then I think you'll be in good shape:)
