11/22/63 is about a man in the present time who comes upon a portal that leads back to 1958. Returning through the portal always brings a person back two minutes after when they had left, no matter how long they stayed in the past. Changes made in the past affect the present that one returns to. But re-entering the portal resets any changes made the previous time.

Anyway, so this man is convinced of a plan to try to prevent the Kennedy assassination in '63. And along the way it turns out that every sort of larger change to the past he tries to make, there are forces at work trying to preserve the proper series of events.

I'm about a third of the way through the book, and I'm enjoying it. 1958 really comes alive. The pacing is good so far--there's a lot of gradual suspense-building. Has anyone else read it?
