I doubt it's what Zelazny intended, but the parallels are definitely there. And actually, now that I think about it... considering Lord of Light, he's definitely a fan of fantastical historical retellings.

The similarity betweenn the patterns might also have something to do with the three-dimensional Pattern within the Jewel (which is very interesting because that would make the Primal Amber Pattern and Corwin's Pattern merely the first [private]s of the Jewel's Pattern... not to mention, with the Jewel of Judgement really being the Eye of Chaos*, we're running into Pattern (Order etc) really being a mere aspect of Logrus (Chaos etc)... which threatens to reduce all of Zelazny's metaphysics to roughly, "Fuck Parmenides, Heraclitus had it right." :'P (Though with way more possibilities for interesting storytelling and tabletop gaming.)

I'm also really interested in Suhuy... he seems similar to Dworkin on the Logrus side of things, but surely he didn't inscribe the Logrus? Did he? How OLD is this bastard?

And the spikards? Come on. Things were way simpler in the first five books... I wish there were a project for an Amber [private] like there are LotR, Dragonlance, and Forgotten Realms [private]s.

* Kinda hard to separate the two...
