There are ultra-Orthodox people in Israel who throw rocks at the cars of people driving on the Sabbath too.

If a man is "distracted" by his attraction to a woman other than his wife, it's not his fault for not having better control... it's the woman's fault for dressing inappropriately... or apparently for just being near him.
This surprises me: "And in a major decision last month a committee of leading ultra-Orthodox rabbis here ruled that Haredi women should no longer be allowed to get academic degrees beyond high school." There is a religious commandment against women studying the Talmud, but not against women studying period. I always thought Jewish men and women were both highly encouraged to get educated.
