it's just that they feel that because they believe it, everyone else will too.
i can understand that they believe the Bible is Truth, but they don't even bother to act as if someone might not. it's like their approach is to assume i know it's Truth already, i just haven't read it and so don't know what God is literally saying to me.
from one point of view, i can see their point....if the Bible had that kind of God-given power, maybe they could expect people to be overcome by the aura when it's read to them as proof of an argument.
but when someone is so far gone that they ignore empirical evidence (i mean, it doesn't happen like that with most people....so maybe they're missing something? no, there's always another reason that has nothing to do with what I actually think), there can't be any discussion and i don't know why they think there can.
when someone tries to tell me i'm seeing things the wrong way, i can't listen to them if they won't even acknowledge that i might have reasons for seeing things that way, or care about what they are - maybe i'm incorrect, maybe they're the wrong ones, but if you want to convince me you're correct and i'm mistaken, then you've got to pay attention to the basis of my disagreement with you. you can't just assume i haven't heard the alternative before, especially when it becomes fucking obvious that i have.
