Why is it that only one group's right?

I don't even remember which show it was (though I want to say Family Guy or Futurama), but everyone dies and they're sitting in hell asking the age-old question: "So, who had it right?" and the Devil informs them (quite coolly), "It was the Mormons. Yes people, you heard me. The Mormons had it right."

So where does this notion come from? Christians are convinced everyone else is going to hell. Jews just know that all of those impure folks out there are going to burn for eternity. The Muslims? Well, those infidels have it coming. And so on, and so forth. Why can't everyone be right, though?

The best I can figure, God (whichever incarantion/name you wnat to believe in) is a really big guy. I'm sorry, but I don't see him damning people for shits and giggles because they think you have to dunk the whole baby instead of just his head at the baptism. I could be wrong, I'll grant you that, but it just doesn't seem to make sense. Churches of all flavors preach a tolerant, loving God (though in some cases that love's a bit tougher than others), so why can't that extend to other faiths as well? Does it just come back to a power-trip sort of feeling that comes from thinking "we're better than those crazy so-and-sos"?
