Running.

At the end of August I participated in my first ever race. It was a for fun 5K race. It was a run where we all got to dress up in glow gear and run around in the dark. And it was absolutely exhilarating. People of all different types of athletic ability just running around and having fun being active regardless of how fast or slow they were.

Suffice to say, I got hooked on running and have been running weekly ever since. At the end of the month I have a 10 mile race which will be the furthest distance I've ever run. As of yet, 7 miles is as far as I've run. I'm pretty proud of that since I'm able to maintain an even pace for pretty much the whole length. Having this race has been great incentive to keep up with my weekly runs.

And this weekend I signed up for a half-marathon training course that culminates in a half-marathon at the end of January. Yes it will be FREEZING cold out. End of January temps in Minnesota are generally in the teens for highs. And I signed up for another 5k on New Year's Eve!

But with all this running, I'm hoping that I will be able to lay a foundation for a marathon in either June or next October. Assuming I remain largely injury free, I see no reason why I can't make this happen. But even without this goal, running for it's own sake is such a great activity. You just step outside and go!

Does anyone else here run? What has been your experience with it? Please share! :)
