This isn't really meant to be a serious discussion, per se but I'd like the rules of science to apply :p

So... what do we do if there's a major famine tomorrow? Well, maybe not tomorrow but perhaps a strain of plant virus that wipes out most farmed vegetation? Maybe a nuclear strike, that kills of most of our plants and animals on this planet. What would be your course of action as an individual?

Perhaps humanity will go out in a blink... but what I want to ponder and discuss is-- what if shit hits the fan and there's one of those "post apocalyptic" events we see in movies like Book of Eli, and The Road? Do you think people will become cannibals? Will fat people take longer to die of starvation?

I don't want to discuss zombies (lol, sorry IJ, Belph, etc) but I do want to discuss how you think society will fall apart and assuming the governments weren't completely wiped out-- how long until we lose all semblance of law and order?

This is the kind of thing I sometimes have dreams about. I like post apocalyptic stories and themes.

I'm curious about people's specific ideas for survival. For instance... even if the municipal water systems shut down, there'd be lots of water to scavenge from water heaters that you could use on your way out of the city and towards a lake or river.

Let's brain-storm and roleplay a bit here. What's your personal disaster plans look like?
