Well, we already know about militant Arabs who hate Israel. That's usually the only side we hear about in American media. But there is more to the story.
Zionist, in the pejorative sense, refers to ultra-nationalist Israelis who believe Jews have a God-given mandate to populate the holy land, including the Palestinian territories. The zionists who are actually living their beliefs are those who have created settlements deep into the occupied territory of the West Bank. They have no regard for the Palestinians and seek no peace agreement. I've got another Four video for you, this one from 60 Minutes. I applaud CBS and 60 Minutes for reporting on the Jewish settlers--you just don't see this reporting often in the US.
I welcome your comment on the video!
An election is coming next week in Israel. If you believe the settlements must be dismantled, as I do, you probably want Tzipi Livni (seen in the video) to prevail as Israel's prime minister. Ominously, however, there are good odds for Benjamin Netanyahu to prevail. Netanyahu is a hard-liner, a zionist who resigned his position as finance minister in 2005 to protest Israel's dismantling the modest settlements in Gaza. You will not see peace with Netanyahu in charge.
