Intersting topic - What elements of our culture will still be around several hundred years in the future?
Some suggestions from the above link that I agree with: Superheroes, smileys/happy-face logo, blue jeans, phrases like "15 minutes of fame" and "catch-22", sex-change operations, the standard deck of cards, popular sports (soccer, baseball, etc).
Some suggestions that are just wrong: fad dieting (surely a "cure" for obesity will be found), the Simpsons (beloved as they may be, no one will get most of the jokes in the future), sunglasses (the suggestion was because they are a cool fasion accessory, but I doubt they'll be needed), credit cards (it'll be something implanted or biometric).
A lot of people suggested the Beatles, but I liked one guy's comment: "Beatles music will tumble in popularity after the last boomer croaks and the media is no longer saturated with 'Beatles are the greatest' nonsense."
Bonus point for the suggestion: Will Ferrell cowbell sketch
Got any to add?
