Yesterday, Jimmy Carter made history as America's first centenarian ex-president. He thus joins such big names as Elizabeth the Queen Mother, Strom Thurmond, Bob Hope, Leni Riefenstahl, Madame Chiang Kai-Shek, Albert Hofmann, Miep Gies, George Burns, Norman Lear, Gregorio Fuentes, Robert Earl Jones, Marjorie Stoneman Douglas, Rose Kennedy, Ruth Bernhard, and the inventor of pinyin in centenarianhood.

I thought eating something with peanuts in it would be an appropriate way to celebrate Carter's birthday. Peanut granola bars and, if I can find them, Reese's cups and Japanese peanuts from the convenience store.
