I don't know if it was the Windows updates or installing the credit card processing software (or doing both at the same time!) that borked my work computer, but Windows' System Restore rolled both back flawlessly and I'm back up and running smooth as can be!
In the past System Restore has done nothing for me but make my woes even more woeful. So much trouble has been caused by it that I routinely turn it off, in fact, and advise others to do the same! Fortunately this is one system where I forgot to turn it off, and one piece of advice I'll never again hand out!
